The Equipment List below is relevant to ACE Dirty Weekend One Day (Saturday), ACE Standard and ELITE (Saturday and Sunday); Solo and Teams. Please note that the only exception is with lighting power for the ELITE.
Mandatory Equipment per Individual
- Windproof or waterproof jacket or gilet
- Jersey or equivalent specialised wear
- Running Shoes with offroad grip
- Any legwear
- Helmet - Cycling or multisport helmet - see note below. (These helmets will be used in the kayaking stage.)
- Mountain Bike in good working order
- Bike Lock - cable lock recommended
- ELITE: Bike Lights front and rear. Minimum 5 hours life. Powerful beam for Night offroad cycling and navigation. Spare batteries recommended.
- STD and One Day: Bike Lights front and rear. Minimum 3 hours life. Spare batteries recommended.
- Rucksack or equivalent carrier (panniers and/or trailers are acceptable)
- Food for competition duration hours
- ELITE: Waterproof headtorch (IPX8). Water resistant (IPX6 rating) is second best but allowable. Minimum 5 hours life recommended. Powerful beam for Night foot navigation. Spare batteries recommended. E.g. 2x2.5hrs allowable.
- STD and One Day: Water resistant headtorch. Minimum 3 hours life recommended. Powerful beam for Night foot navigation. Spare batteries recommended. E.g. 2x1.5 hrs allowable.
Mandatory Equipment per Team / Solo Class Individual
- Bike Tool kit and puncture repair kit
- Map (these are included in the entry fee
- Survival bag or bivi bag (foil blanket alone is NOT acceptable)
- Emergency Rations
- First Aid Kit
- Whistle
- Compass
- Time piece (watch, wrist computer)
- Biro, waterproof pen or pencil
- Mobile phone for an emergency phone call
FIRST AID KIT - MUST CONTAIN:
- One large and several small wound dressings
- Triangular bandage
- Roller bandage
- Painkillers (e.g. paracetamol)
- Anti-inflammatory (e.g. ibuprofen)

- Full waterproof body cover
- Spare thermal top
- Cycling glasses
- Cycling shorts
- Leg cover for kayaking
- Backrest for kayaking
- Cleated cycle shoes
- 'Gloves
- Insulating headgear

- Bike bottles and/or hydration bladder
- Waterproof rucksack liner
- Waterproof bag for mobile phone
- Bike map board
- Water purification tablets or equivalent
- Map case (however, sealable poly bags supplied)
Equipment Supplied by Organisers
- Sit-on-top Double Malibu Kayaks.
- Paddles. Competitors may bring their own paddles. These must be in their own paddle bags.
- Bouyancy Aids. Competitors may bring their own bouyancy aids.
- Climbing Helmet. This will be supplied at the ropework location, and recirculated there.
- Climbing Harness. This will be supplied at the ropework location, and recirculated there.
- Other climbing equipment. This will be supplied at the ropework location, and recirculated there.
Organisers will transport all of the above kayaking and climbing equipment.
Equipment Notes
- GPS locational devices are not allowed, however screenless GPS trackers/loggers are allowed.
- Camping equipment for the Friday and Saturday overnight stays - camping is near car parking area.
- Spare clothing in case of inclement weather - e.g. waterproofs.
- Race number; to be showng at all times.
Cycling helmet must be ANSI, BSI, Snell certified (not climbing or canoeing). There are multi-discipline adventure race helmets on the market that combine bike/kayak/climbing helmets. The Salewa Krypton, Edelrid Shield and Kong Scarab are the most readily available.
